I’m a country girl through and through. I grew up on a 500 acre Dairy Farm in a Dansville, Michigan. I was an active member in 4-H and actually met my husband at the Ingham County Fair. I’m an avid scrapbooker and love writing. I have started a children’s book based on a real event that happened on my farm. Someday, I might have a whole series of children’s books.
Career wise, I have always wanted to go to college, but I never thought I would be smart enough. I was what people might say, as being street smart, not book smart. I started my college at Lansing Community College; I was going to be a nurse. Well that dream faded fast as I realized the amount of math that I was going to need. Having a passion for the medical field, I entered LCC’s EMT program, and graduated as a board certified EMT with my Associates Degree. It was my hope that I would be able to continue my education. Then, however, the second chapter of my life started. I got married and had two children. Even though my life was great, I felt like something was missing. I really wanted to go back to school. However, having two children, a full time job, and a husband that was gone a lot as Fire Chief of our town, left me no time to think about school. I decided that when my kids were grown up, I would go back to school. So now at age 45 and two grown children ages 20 and 22, I’m re-entering college at Michigan State University.
I hope that people will be inspired my blog. I hope that people will realize that no matter how old you are, you can reach your dreams.
